Character Influenced

I would never let chickens
influence my character
but like them good sense
scatters at your entrance
- 'poetic skill,' 'duty,'
under the fence

Still in the Noise

In the midst of the noisiest stadium...I felt, within myself, amazed at God's power to change the course of history to fit his will.  Even to quiet the loudest roar.

Psalm 65:6-8

"Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; being girded with power:  Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.  They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are fraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice."

Families Framed

Family in town.  Family in tow.  Family in to...uploaded moments.

We used to plan these facimiles with care; each one an undertaking of patience for posterity.

Today, dozens of discarded copies mysteriously find themselves swept into a graphic of a trash bin.  Others, filed away and saved in tiny, shiny plugs - mysterious and miraculous, they conceal our histories.

Every moment caught right by light becomes three seconds in an electrified frame.  A switch fades it all to black, a button threatens eradication...plagues which live among us lie silent as a cloud that blots out the sun.  So, I vow to print and file and carefully catalog with names and dates in a loving hand.  Script, not font shall tell my tale, for eager genes of hearts and minds, replicated, sowed, and grown down the line.

The Day of Atonement

Leviticus 5: 5-6
And it shall be, when he shall be guilty in one of these things, that he shall confess that he hath sinned in that thing:  And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the LORD for his sin which he hath sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a kid of the goats, for a sin offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his sin.

~*~*~*~*~*~

I don't know about you, but I don't have a lamb or a kid, or as in the subsequent verses, a turtledove, or a ram, etc...but I know that when I lay my sins before the Lord, they are wiped away away until I am sparkly, fresh, and made new by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Amen!

Bright & Sunshiny Day

I think I'll go for a walk outside now,
The summer sun's calling my name, I hear it now.
I just can't stay inside all day,
I've got to get out, gimme some of those rays.

Everybody's smiling (sunshine day),
Everybody's laughing (sunshine day),
Everybody seems so happy today in the sunshine day.
Oooh. Can't you dig the sunshine?
Feel the sun and the rays.
Can't you hear it calling your name?

~ The Brady Bunch

Okay, so it's not totally summery since we're nearing fall, but that song is so fun I couldn't resist.  The leaves are starting to change all around me and the sun is shining so brightly that they're lighting up the sky like gemstones.   I've got a pork roast in the crock pot...football dominates the t.v. in the living room, it's definitely fallish.  Fall!  FallFall!  I *heart* you!!!

Welcoming Grey...give me color!

The skies are a shade of welcoming, comforting, wrapping it's loving arms around you grey...and all I want is a burst of color.  Luckily, Lilly makes gorgeous iphone cases.  La, la, la Lilly saves the day again!

Number's Man upgraded his iphone to the 4G so I get his hand me down 3G (I've been using the archaic 2G).  Not only am I excited about accessorizing with Lilly, but also the fact that a lot of the larger apps *cough* Chanel *cough* will work so much better.

Now, to download Skype so I can talk easily to my dear friend/co-worker who is studying abroad in Japan and my parents who will be in Europe this winter.  Thank you, Apple...for making this great big world a little smaller.

I hope everyone is having a lovely Labor Day weekend!

"Workingmen are at the foundation of society. Show me that product of human endeavor in the making of which the workingman has had no share, and I will show you something that society can well dispense with."
