Personal Legends

I fold down the sheet, flatly formed against the quilt so that each dent of stitch stretches into a barely visible terrain.  It forms a pleasant piece of smooth, cold art.  Slowly I stroke my hand across like a wind on plastered white sand beach, lifting my flickering fingers just above the peeking blue quilt edge.  The gust I create is lighter than one that shakes water into waves, so my weak current does not make it's own throughout this small world.
After all.

Little Changes

Thank you Target for giving me little things to sprinkle the house with newness.  I love minor changes.   The photos in the frame are ones I took at Pike's Place Market last summer.  The balls....well, I couldn't find any potpurri I liked.  Numbers Man can't stand them...think's they look like hideous artichokes.  Ha!

Thinking on these verses today...

2 Peter 1: 4-8Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.  And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Healthy Scallopped Potatoes

3 - 4 Large Potatoes (sliced into thin circles)
  • Olive Oil
  • Fresh Cilantro - minced
  • About 1-1/2 Cups Vegetable Broth
  • Salt & Pepper

  1. Preheat Oven to 350.
  2. Lightly oil a baking dish (I use a 12" Oval dish that is 2" deep)
  3. Lay down a layer of potatoes (get them as close as possible without overlapping).
  4. Drizzle with a teensy bit of olive oil (you don't need much...so put your finger over the top or use a spray canister), sprinkle with S&P, and cilantro.
  5. Repeat 3 times.
  6. Cover (but not so totally submerged) with broth.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes - 1 Hour covered with aluminum foil.

You can go light on everything save for the potatoes...it ends up being very rich and flavorful.

Use Me...

I've been pondering these verses.  Ponder.  Ponder.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Proverbs 20:11
Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

1Corinthians 12: 1-12
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.  Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.  Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.  For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

Do you ever wonder how the Lord will use you in this life you've been blessed with?  I do...all the time.  Our lives are made up of moments, and we know we ought to use each moment to the fullest, but how?  I trust that he will show me and I try to remeber to lean on the Word, but there are times when I think..."What am I supposed to do here?  What should I say?  How can I be an asset for good in this situation?"  Sometimes this causes me to over or under-react, or at least think I'm over or under-reacting.  Trust, faith...and remember this verse...

Proverbs 3: 5-6
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

God will show me, in His time.  He will show every one of us who believes in Him.

Shining Bright

All things bright and beautiful You are
All things wise and wonderful You are
In my darkest night, You brighten up the skies
A song will rise....

~ From Song of Hope by the Robbie Seay Band

I want to lighten up...less hair, more highlights, sunnier me.  If I still feel the same by the end of the week I'm going to go into the salon asking for this style (less blonde though)...and maybe Ken Paves and some extra volume would come in handy. Ha!

What do you think?

For My Mom

Two things for my "MA!"...

A flower

A Poem

Fragmentary Blue by Robert Frost

Why make so much of fragmentary blue
In here and there a bird, or butterfly,
Or flower, or wearing-stone, or open eye,
When heaven presents in sheets the solid hue?

Since earth is earth, perhaps, not heaven (as yet)--
Though some savants make earth include the sky;
And blue so far above us comes so high,
It only gives our wish for blue a whet.

The Sparrow

Matthew 6: 26-31
Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?  Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?  And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:  And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?  Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

Convicted by the Cross

Luke 9: 23-25

And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.  For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.  For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I am moved, I am finding instruction little by little.  My eyes are opening wider it seems.  I pray my conviction deepens even more.  I want to live for Him only and not me as well.  Truthfully, I'm afraid of what that means.  I pray this fear will abate.
