What 3 Months of Motherhood have Taught Me

Becoming a mother has taught me a great deal...

Especially about myself.

Some things I am pleased / relieved to discover.

And others...?

Not so much. :(

I am:
Impatient
Excitable
Quick to anger
Quick to forgive
Too reliant on easy fixes
Addicted to my reading time
Good at sleeping (any time, any place)
Not a naturally scheduled person
Not good at keeping my tongue
Proficient at entertaining a baby
A sympathetic crier
Not content to sit still for hours
A fiend for kisses
A natural educator
Judgmental
A shopper when bored
More selfish than I thought
An emotional eater

I find that managing my own expectations for the day (of myself and others) is key. Pre-mommyhood, I knew if I wanted something bad enough I could work to make it happen. Being a mommy has put me in my place! :)

Mamas out there, can you relate to any of this?

  1. Oh yes.... so much of it!!! The good thing is, kids just want to be loved, so it all works out if they know you love them. and obviously you do. None of us are perfect and she wont be either, so its a life we learn together. Which is why I think sometimes, I still don't feel like a "mother" my Mom is a mother. not me! Although, I love my kids the right way. Just sometimes can't believe I'm not 14 anymore! :) But my kids know I love them and I'd do anything for them. Even if they don't like it. :)

  2. Yep, I can totally relate. Motherhood is the best teacher by far. I've been at it for 10 years and I am still learning--God definitely uses my little ones to mold me for His glory. Is it hard? Completely yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat.

Take care. . .your babe is a cutie pie!

  3. Julie - I only feel like a grown up when I'm working, which I think actually comes in handy when parenting because "girls" like you and I are always looking to have fun. *cue Sarah Jessica Parker dance*

Stacie - all I can think is that God knows what he's doing so even if I don't, so he's sending me in a direction that will bring about GOOD! And THANK YOU...I do think she's adorable, myself. ;)
