Victorian Rose Tea Room

Today, the ladies in my department that live in the area went out for our quarterly luncheon. We trekked out to Debbie Macomber's Victorian Rose tea room in Port Orchard. And boy, was the drive worth it! The weather was absolutely perfect (76 degrees, sunny, slight breeze) and the fellowship even better!

I had a curry chicken salad sandwich, split pea soup, coconut cream pie, and coconut vanilla tea. Everything was delectable, but the sandwich stole my heart. That being said, I am now on a quest to replicate it on my own terms.

There is also a dauntingly well-stocked gift shop that took my pocketbook by surprise, but profited my "to buy" list that I keep up in my iPhone notes, but striking a couple items out. More on those items later. :)

If you get the opportunity to visit, I highly recommend a stop at this cozy and romantic pink place of pleasantness.

Hospital Infatuation

My doctor was working at another hospital this month so I went to a new facility for my monthly appointment. I had no idea this place was so amazing…I want to live at this hospital! Haha… Now Numbers Man and I are seriously debating switching hospitals (ours is super nice too, but nothing like this). Notice the birthing center in the bottom left of the collage. Hello! And they have a Starbucks, which my parents are so addicted to they will totally leave the hospital while I’m in labor if there isn’t one there. Haha…

I made a collage with pix from our hospital and it has a Starbucks now too apparently. Very important, folks. :)

Envy versus Inspiration

Lately, I am struggling to distinguish between what is "envy" and what is simply "inspiration".   I am the sort of person who enjoys doing things well.  This extends to everything from a hard day of work to aesthetic decisions.

For the past week I have been reading an article on envy over and over again, searching for clues and red flags hoping something will ring true in my mind and alert me to the virtue, or lack thereof, in my pleasurable pursuits.   In wanting to create a beautiful space for our baby, a unique, space, just for them, filled with joy and light and love, I am searching blogs, design magazines, and cataloging those pictures, jotting down ideas and project notes.  Is this me, envying the "stuff" of others or is it something different altogether; a kind of expression of gratitude for new life and an act of service to my God-given family and love?

The answer to this question came to me with the revelation that I do not feel disadvantaged, or jealous, without these things; I feel empowered instead.  Empowerd to take hold of all of the gifts that my hands and my time at work afford me - thank God.  Envy divides and inspiration unites.

Tuesday Truths

I want to steal the last ice cream cookie sandwich from napping, unsuspecting husband.

If I end up committing afore-mentioned crime, I will blame it on my pregnancy hormones...and bat my eyelashes.

Thoughts on Pregnancy So Far

Slowly but surely, my body is showing me what the new normal is...

What comfort means: when my skin is pulled taught around my growing midsection.
Where life is: with every belly-flutter and fattened breath.
What the purpose of my heart is: with every thudding beat, my body prepares.
